Eco Bezhig Retrofitting thigh braces

Postby haggismuncher » Tue Mar 08, 2016 7:54 pm

Anyone got experience retrofitting thigh braces to an Eco Bezhig.
Just got them through from Mission and they don't seem to fit.
If the front section fits the sides pop out and vica versa.
See attachments.

Do you heat them up before bending to shape?
Or just glue and screw?

Thanks for any advice you can offer

Hi HM
Had any luck with your braces? I just bought an EB and it doesn't have them ( I thought they all had them) so will probably retrofit

Update: bought the Eco bezhig thigh braces and they didn't seem to fit but after a little trimming and with a bit of work with a heat gun (if you have a plastic boat you have to get one of these) they fit quite well. It's a bit fiddly and you have to manhandle them while not heating too much.

Sorry I thought I'd posted a reply.
I fitted mine by bolting them in but was left with a bit of a crease at the front.
Might borrow a heat gun (or buy a cheap one) and refit them.

Thanks for the tip

Bunnings sell one with several different nozzles, variable temperature, variable fan speeds for $50 .
I prefer these to flame torches, they're very hot, too easy to melt your boat
I bought some shrink wrap plastic (also Bunnings) to cover ends of deck rigging, looks teally good
Also check YouTube for vids, some good stuff there
Cheers

Hi Chris
A bit late for you but here's an observation:
I sat in a shiny new EcoBehzig at Mountain Creek at Christmas time. The combing on this brand new boat was keyhole shaped. Looking at your photo's I get the sense that you have the older, oval shaped combing. May be a case of Missions current stock is a snug fit for their newer keyhole shaped combing and a bit of swearing is/ was required to conform to the older ones (?). Would explain the divergence between brace & combing in the photo.
Regards
Nic

Hey Nic T
thanks for your observations. I asked Mission if different model EB had different cockpits and was told they're all the same but I suspect that's not true. They sent me some photos of fitting the TB and use G-clamps to get them in position. Why didn't I think of that? Still it doesn't look right, the ends of the TB seem to stick out a bit too much for me. When I'm motivated I'll heat them a bit and modify. Thanks again Nic T
cheers
