I'm new here and have been doing a little research on fitting a pump to my kayak. Does anyone have experience with the Rule automatic pumps that work on impeller resistance? They look to use very little power in standby mode and would do away with all the clunky switches.
I've already purchased a standard 500GPH model. It looks like the new auto will fit in the same cradle if I mount the base permanently.
On a side note, I've read a little on getting the pump to draw water from down as low as possible with the use of a different strainer. Would it not be better to block the back of the standard strainer and have some slightly raised sections to funnel water into the front of the housing during forward movements? From my experience with pumps like this it seems to be a really simple design fix that will get the last few mm of water out if that really bothers anyone.
Anyway, safe/fun paddling to everyone and thanks in advance for any advice.
