Whilst I'm a lesser user of these forums, id like to bring everyone's attention to this guy who is making some amazing quilts.

A few years ago, I moved from sleeping bag to quilt for both bushwalking and winter ski touring trips.

The move to a quilt may require a bit of a change in mindset, esp if wishing to minimise weight , moreso for colder weather - in my move to quilts, I've taken to sleeping in all available clothing, so as to minimalise weight, probably less important in a kayak, but a good concept. In winter in the snow, I sleep in down jacket and pants, and a 600g quilt; in summer, I use a 400g quilt, and less clothing. Miles lighter than any sleeping bag.

Anyway, "Undercling Mike" is making some impressive quilts in Oz, for those that are interested.

Nice, I've thought about a quilt for the hammock, but living in QLD it always ends up being a wish rather than a need.
