Moreton island

Postby M24 » Sun May 22, 2016 5:52 pm

I am planning to paddle across to Moreton Island and explore its western coast over 4-5 days in July. Any advice on where to launch from the mainland with parking? Also, any suggestions on an itinerary would be welcome.

Four to five days is plenty of time for Moreton as the west side is only about 50 km long. We paddled both Stradbroke and Moreton over a leisurely week launching from a little boat ramp just south of Weinam Creek in Redland Bay. We left the car parked there for a week with no problems. If you did something like that you could add in Peel Island which is really nice particularly when all the motor boats go home at nightfall. Snorkeling at Tangalooma wrecks is a must do.
