Frej

Finally finished my Frej build, very happy with the handling. Super fast acceleration, with buoyant stern makes for a great surf play boat. And can turn and edge extremely well.

Nice job!
I like my Frej a lot.
Did you put a skeg in it?

Yes, I went with the 'skeel' that is mentioned on bjorn site. Sits just rear of the rear bulkhead.

Skeel: A great, great idea from Reg Lake.
It really helps with the tracking and handling, without anchoring the stern too much. I usually have a bit of skeel down for regular paddling and just retract it for launching/landing.
It may have been my (John Abercrombie) Frej you saw on Bjorn's site.
The skeel gets in the way of a day hatch a bit, but I wasn't planning one for my Frej anyway.

How do you like the Maroske fittings for the deck lines?

Oh that's your boat!
I followed the pictures on that build, very comprehensive. Thanks!
I love the marksmen fittings. I have used them previously and like that my poor craftsmanship is hidden under the deck ;)

Nice boat Comanche,

I'm curious to investigate the skeel more. Do you have any links that may point me in the right direction?

I'm considering one of a couple Bjorn designs for my next build project. Looking for an efficient touring / exercise boat to play in when unloaded. Amazing selection of designs he has.

Is this paint over a stripped hull? Looks like this turned out to be a really nice boat!

Wesley
